Christmas Holidays!

So this is what i woke up to early one morning on my way to work. It was freezing cold out, and really early in the morning. Happy Holidays!!! December 22/09

Thanks to whomever decided this would be something fun and productive to do! I walked back into my house and sat down on my bed contemplating whether i should go back to bed or figure out how to get to work. So i made a few calls to no avail. So people don't like phone calls at 6:30am!!! I called the police to report this, i called insurance to talk to a whole lot of people who didn't know what to do so they would transfer me to someone else who might be able to help. I made a makeshift window with some black garbage bags and duct tape and hoped for the best. It is really hard to see with a black window!! and cold as well driving down a highway at 100km/h.
An appointment is made to have the window fixed horray!!!
Take it in, and at this point i am thinking that i have everything under control, NOPE! I recieved a phone call from the auto glass store telling me they ordered the wrong window, but for the hassle they would fix it when i got back, and they would also give me a great deal. In the meantime they placed a piece of plexiglass to help with driving and such. I thought to myself, how am i supposed to leave my car at the airport for two weeks, with a plexi glass window, i am just asking someone to steal it. My boss being the kind person that he is gave me his vehicle, and had me park my vehicle in his garage at work. Wow, i didn't know what to say. Feeling bad that i would have his vehicle for two weeks just parked at the airport i rented a car one way to get me to the airport.
Smooth sailing now right?! I got home to finish packing, cleaning... but wait where is my passport?? I went through all of my drawers, papers, shelves... no luck. I won't lie i did start to cry. I called my boss at 11:00pm, to see if he would let me in to check in my car that was parked at work, and he graciously drove on down to let me in. No luck there as well. Driving home a bit hopless, i got home and said yet another little prayer. With some more careful looking, i found it just in time to shower and crawl into bed to get a solid 2 hours sleep before having to drive to Calgary.
But i made it and my next post will show you all of the fun we have been having!!!

What a week!!

So this year i am grateful that i actually made it to Hawaii!!! Just a brief update:
So work has been extremely busy with it being the end of the year, and people eating all the things that break teeth.
I have also had my temple assignment on saturday's, i have been busy every night with all of the little things. Laundry, getting gifts ready and delivered...
So tuesday morning came around, i walk out to my car at 6:20am to find my driver side car window has been shattered. Nothing taken from my car, but glass shattered throughout. I didn't cry but just stood with a helpless feeling. So i walked back into the house sat down on my bed, tried to find a ride to work with no luck at 6:20 in the morning. So my next phone call was to the police, then to insurance, and the next task was to get to work. So with a couple of garbage bags and some duct tape i managed to make it to work. A little late but i did make it, and boy was it cold.
I took my car in on wednesday to get fixed to recieve a phone call at work saying that they had ordered the wrong window. Awesome!!!
I have the best boss. He told me that i would leave my car at work parked in the garage and that i would take his vehicle.
I felt so bad and overwhelmed that i rented a one way vehicle to get me to the airport the next morning. I finally get home, to pack and do all the little stuff at home, thinking i am home free, NOPE just kidding, where is my passport???? Yup lost it. I looked all over the house, and that is when the tears started. Dr. Hall at 11:00pm drove down to the office to let me in to my vehicle to check, and no it was not there. I came home feeling at a loss, and kept looking. Saying multiple prayers, i finally found it, then to crawl into bed for two hours sleep. It was then up and off to the airport at 3:00am, and needless to say it was a rough ride. But i made it!!!! Some flights delayed and late, and all of my insides just screaming, i made it safely!!! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

It has been a WHILE!!!

A brief little catch up. So i turned 29!! My birthday was good, spent with family and friends. I spent 10 days in Hawaii at the end of October. It was fabulous, very relaxing, just sitting on the beach playing with Abi and Julien, soaking up a little too much sun!!! And man did i pay for the time in the sun when i got home. I blistered, and peeled at least three times, so itchy!!! Got home and the whole H1N1 broke out and guess who got the shot, ME, and guess who got sick the very next day, ME. It was miserable, i have not been sick like that before.
I am going to be an auntie again, not to just one but two. We know for sure that Paul and Nancy are going to have another little girl, and Julie and Sterling have not found out yet.
Work continues to get busier, but it is the season for toothaches, broken teeth... my insurance is running out and I need the work done NOW!!
I still work at the temple on Saturday's, which is going great. I am continually amazed at how much i don't know.
Life in general is going well, and the next step is figuring out where too next!!!
I do know for sure I was born to be somewhere warm for sure. I am so ready to be in Hawaii again, and this next week and a half is not going to go by fast enough.
But i hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season with friends and family.
Love you all!

Update

So, what have i been up to? Well same old for the most part, work, and yes it is really busy. I still go to the gym, i find it to be a good release of energy for me at the almost end of most days. Have been rock climbing sparatickly, which has been fun. Saturday mornings have been spent serving at the Temple. It so far has been an awesome learning opportunity. I have been able to study and learn more than i thought i would be able to. And it has been neat to see the work of the Lord work in people's lives, and to feel those who have passed on rejoice that their work is being done.
I have had alot of time to take a look at my life, the people in it, why i do some of the things i do.... and the list goes on. Some good insights.
I am excited for General Conference this weekend. I am really excited to go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks!!!
I went and saw the movie Fame last weekend and it was decided that it was the best worst movie we had seen. No realy story, and kinda random but i would probably watch it again.
I am gearing up for my '29th' birthday next week. I don't hace any plans and don't really have anything i want to do in particular, i just want to have a good day!
I came across a quote that striked a cord with me this week, "You really never know what kind of soldier you would be until you're faced with the battle of your life." Just something to ponder.

Love the Constant Reminders!!

So this past week has been good, busy but good. Getting very excited to head out to Hawaii in less than a month, and turn '29' in less than two weeks. Everyone knows that people go through hard times and have to deal with alot on a daily basis, but it seems that every day this week I have been reminded of small things either to be grateful for or to remember. One thing i will share that i read tonight, that brought tears to my eyes and just gave me that little reminder was,"Be kinder than necessary. Everyone is fighting some kind of battle." I guess that was brought on by the environment that i was in tonight and a few little memories that came back while being there. Just thought that I would share that little thought with you all.

Update!!

Well the beginning of a new school year, which means a little more schedule for me!!! Yah!!! Work is still the same, busy, busy, busy!!! I am excited to head to Hawaii next month for 9 days. My yoga class has started again every thursday night, and man i have lost flexibility over the summer. I am no longer the FHE coordinator in my ward, my new calling is as a Temple worker every saturday morning. Yup every saturday morning i get to be at the temple at 6:15am!! So that means no more late date night fridays for me:( I am loving it so far. It is a big commitment, and there is alot to know, stuff you don't even think of.
I have come up with another reason for my list of why I need a man in my life. I really at some point during high school should have taken a mechanics class. It all started on our weekend retreat to Fernie. Bad sign when the check engine light flashes and your car loses power.... oh well kept on driving. The car made it there and back without any further problems. Monday morning, had it checked out and they said, "oh that is not good!" What does that mean? So a scheduled appointment was made to have it checked thoroughly. The result of that check: new spark plugs, a throttle adjustment, and New Timing Belts!!! Yah!!! So i thought!
So another appointment was made to change the timing belts, and that will only cost $5-600. No biggie!! So fixing day arrives, and three phone calls at work later, a few tears shed, new timing belts, a new water pump, serpintine belt and some other part as well as a new cam sensor, i figured i was good for go, NOPE!! Uh another phone call to say that while changing the cam sensor we broke a part and we can't get it in until monday morning. Well give me a car then. So i got to drive a brand new car for the weekend, which was a treat. Monday, your car is ready!!! I leave work to pick it up, praying that i can swing about four times the amount they originally quoted, feeling really ill dishing out $1300, i drive back to work in my own car, get to work, park and let the car idol while i talked to my mom on the phone, and then the weirdest thing happened, a gun shot sound stunned me, i looked over and my side rearview mirror, shattered, no one around, just shattered, a few more tears, and a hopeless i can't do cars attitude, and to top it off check engine light starts to flash at me and stutter like it originally did when i took it in. Another i can't do this anymore moment hit, and with the enouragement of my mom, i took the car right back to the dealership, not so happy, and got the loner car back.
So i handed responsibility over to my dad to handle after that. Nope more bad news, i now need a new coil of sorts that runs about $230 plus labor, AWESOME after i paid the $1300, plus the $250 for spark plugs... what another $300 plus. One day i hope to have a permanent man in my life to take care of these things, and i won't complain doing the laundry!!! But I have a car that works so far, is paid for and gets me around in the end of it, so i guess life is ok.

A Summer Adventure

Just going through some pictures, and came across a little adventure from the summer. A group of us signed up to go midnight whitewater rafting, and if any of you have the opportunity to go i would definately recommend going, it was a blast.

So we started the adventure at around 10:30pm by meeting at Kimball River Sports just outside of Cardston. We headed out to the Kimball River, and began rafting around 11:00pm.

As you can tell from the pics, we all wore a fare amount of clothing, yes it was a bit nippy, and thank goodness i had borrowed a friends neoprene shoes, they saved my life. We also all wore glow necklaces, kinda cool looking back at all of the rafts and seeing glow necklaces!

About half way down the river, we stopped and lit some fireworks, and body surfed down a section of the river. At first i was a bit leary of stripping down to the bare minimum clothing, strapping my life jacket on and jumping in a freezing cold river, surfing through white water, but boy i am glad that i did it, it was so much fun, actually i did it a few times!!

It was a beautiful night, the moon was bright and the sky was clear. We made it back to Kimbll River Sports around 2:00am, and began the journey home. The only thing i would recommend is making sure that you don't have to work the next morning at 6:45am!!! The next day, not so fun for me, but well worth it!!

A few extra pics

A New Sport

So i thought of something new that i have taken an interest in, Rock Climbing. It is something that challenges and pushes me, and an extra added bonus is that the people i climb with are awesome and we have so much fun!!
So my climbing team consists of Stephanie Malmberg, Janson Smith, and myself.
I have been able to learn so much from both of the above mentioned individuals. They also are good at pushing, even to the point of tears. My nickname is cramping Kristy. Why you ask, because one night while at the university climbing at the wall, i came down from a climb and my fore arms cramped, ouch is all i could say. I couldn't straighten my arms, wrists and hands, so Steph massaged my arms for a minute. Kinda funny.
With this new adventure, has come a few injuries and for those who know me know that this is not uncommon. I have had countless bruises, making wearing skirts to church fun. I have ripped the calluses off my hands, but to report, but nothing to serious.
The pics are of my first outdoor climb. This is in Waterton, and is part of the face of Bears Hump for those of you who have been to Waterton. Injuries sustained there, i ripped my pants, and scraped my arms and legs to the point of bleeding. All in all worth it.

A Week in Review

Let's see, to keep you all up to date, nothing to exciting over the past week. The softball season is finally over!!! Hooray!!! Were did we place, not to sure to be honest? But we all had a great time. And by me saying we all had a great time, I am referring to the ladies at work who played as well as their spouses and friends. The season was filled with lots of laughing, and yes, the ladies at work do like to drink, which made things that much more interesting, some wins and loses... All around a long season but a good one.
Work again has been insane, and i am really not exaggerating when i say insane. Kinda wishing that my trip to Hawaii was tomorrow!! But it will be here soon enough.

Back to life

So the week has been ok. Work is insanely busy, you would think that there is only one dentist in town, i wish people would realize that there are many great dentists in Lethbridge!!! But oh well at least i have a job. The weather has been kinda crappy, rainy and cold, and feels like fall, where did summer go?? Nothing to over the top this week, no killing animals... but the little adventure came yesterday. So friday night, after going to bed probably around 2ish in the morning, don't ask, i went to the gym at 8 am. i know crazy, but i had signed up for a class. A bit tired yes, a great workout definately. Came home and we( being steph malmberg and I) were invited to go out to cardston with janson, a friend of ours. It was his family reunion, and they were going to take the jet skii's out. Ok this sounds great, lots of fun but wait, the weather, freezing cold and rainy, no sign of sun, still sound like a good idea, sure why not. Nothing a wetsuit and some extra clothes can't handle. So Janson made us breakfast/brunch/lunch, we were a bit slow getting off. Out to cardston, had another little meal with the family, and then out to St. Mary's. Ikes!! The water was actually not bad it was just after you were wet, being out of the water was like being in a freezer though. So thinking that we were all that and more, Steph and I let ourselves be pursuaded to get on a one man tube for a ride thinking that it was going to be fun and easy. Well boy were we mistaken. So after being flipped off of the one man tube too many times to count, suffering from no voice for the rest of the night, possibly suffering from a little whiplash, maybe a bit of hypothermia, feeling grateful that all of my teeth are still in tact, sharing a bath tub of hot water with steph and a bathroom with Steph, Janson and myself, the afternoon, priceless!!!

What have I been up to?

The Rattlesnake

Braden cutting off the snake's head with his meshetti after he ran it over

The aftermath of the snake being run over, skinned, and gutted with the heart still beating

This snake would not die, it kept wriggling around

This is the head, detatched from the body
Sorry if you have a weak stomach:)

So last week was my last week off of the summer. SAD:( But I had an amazing week! So here is what I did. I went to Penticton, BC. I have never been that far west in BC, and I can say it might be one of my favorite places. I stayed with a friend of mine and his family, who live on top of a mountain, yes it is true, on top of a mountain. The view was amazing, there house overlooked Penticton, Skaha Lake as well as the Okanogan Lake. Alot of the week was spent at Okanogan Lake, playing on the beach, waterskiing, which i have not done for a while, but i still got it!! I tried wake skating as well, and actually was able to get up. We took the jet skii's out, we watched the Snowbirds shoe sitting in the boat in the middle of the lake, golfed a round at Skaha meadows at 6:40am! (it was beautiful, early but beautiful) Ate out at a few different restaurants, that were quite delicious, and played cards until i won my money back. I fell in love with the Baker family, they were so gracious and fun. To add to the excitment, we killed a rattlesnake, and i will post some pics because although it was disgusting, it was kinda cool. So that was my brief week in review!!

Sunday, August 9, 2009

That is right, i am blogging! I figured it would be a great way to keep a sort of journal, because to be honest i am not so good at it. I got to thinking over the past week, with everything i was able to do and see that i really need to start writing things down, so that i can look back and remember valuable life lessons.
