A Summer Adventure

Just going through some pictures, and came across a little adventure from the summer. A group of us signed up to go midnight whitewater rafting, and if any of you have the opportunity to go i would definately recommend going, it was a blast.

So we started the adventure at around 10:30pm by meeting at Kimball River Sports just outside of Cardston. We headed out to the Kimball River, and began rafting around 11:00pm.

As you can tell from the pics, we all wore a fare amount of clothing, yes it was a bit nippy, and thank goodness i had borrowed a friends neoprene shoes, they saved my life. We also all wore glow necklaces, kinda cool looking back at all of the rafts and seeing glow necklaces!

About half way down the river, we stopped and lit some fireworks, and body surfed down a section of the river. At first i was a bit leary of stripping down to the bare minimum clothing, strapping my life jacket on and jumping in a freezing cold river, surfing through white water, but boy i am glad that i did it, it was so much fun, actually i did it a few times!!

It was a beautiful night, the moon was bright and the sky was clear. We made it back to Kimbll River Sports around 2:00am, and began the journey home. The only thing i would recommend is making sure that you don't have to work the next morning at 6:45am!!! The next day, not so fun for me, but well worth it!!

A few extra pics

A New Sport

So i thought of something new that i have taken an interest in, Rock Climbing. It is something that challenges and pushes me, and an extra added bonus is that the people i climb with are awesome and we have so much fun!!
So my climbing team consists of Stephanie Malmberg, Janson Smith, and myself.
I have been able to learn so much from both of the above mentioned individuals. They also are good at pushing, even to the point of tears. My nickname is cramping Kristy. Why you ask, because one night while at the university climbing at the wall, i came down from a climb and my fore arms cramped, ouch is all i could say. I couldn't straighten my arms, wrists and hands, so Steph massaged my arms for a minute. Kinda funny.
With this new adventure, has come a few injuries and for those who know me know that this is not uncommon. I have had countless bruises, making wearing skirts to church fun. I have ripped the calluses off my hands, but to report, but nothing to serious.
The pics are of my first outdoor climb. This is in Waterton, and is part of the face of Bears Hump for those of you who have been to Waterton. Injuries sustained there, i ripped my pants, and scraped my arms and legs to the point of bleeding. All in all worth it.

A Week in Review

Let's see, to keep you all up to date, nothing to exciting over the past week. The softball season is finally over!!! Hooray!!! Were did we place, not to sure to be honest? But we all had a great time. And by me saying we all had a great time, I am referring to the ladies at work who played as well as their spouses and friends. The season was filled with lots of laughing, and yes, the ladies at work do like to drink, which made things that much more interesting, some wins and loses... All around a long season but a good one.
Work again has been insane, and i am really not exaggerating when i say insane. Kinda wishing that my trip to Hawaii was tomorrow!! But it will be here soon enough.

Back to life

So the week has been ok. Work is insanely busy, you would think that there is only one dentist in town, i wish people would realize that there are many great dentists in Lethbridge!!! But oh well at least i have a job. The weather has been kinda crappy, rainy and cold, and feels like fall, where did summer go?? Nothing to over the top this week, no killing animals... but the little adventure came yesterday. So friday night, after going to bed probably around 2ish in the morning, don't ask, i went to the gym at 8 am. i know crazy, but i had signed up for a class. A bit tired yes, a great workout definately. Came home and we( being steph malmberg and I) were invited to go out to cardston with janson, a friend of ours. It was his family reunion, and they were going to take the jet skii's out. Ok this sounds great, lots of fun but wait, the weather, freezing cold and rainy, no sign of sun, still sound like a good idea, sure why not. Nothing a wetsuit and some extra clothes can't handle. So Janson made us breakfast/brunch/lunch, we were a bit slow getting off. Out to cardston, had another little meal with the family, and then out to St. Mary's. Ikes!! The water was actually not bad it was just after you were wet, being out of the water was like being in a freezer though. So thinking that we were all that and more, Steph and I let ourselves be pursuaded to get on a one man tube for a ride thinking that it was going to be fun and easy. Well boy were we mistaken. So after being flipped off of the one man tube too many times to count, suffering from no voice for the rest of the night, possibly suffering from a little whiplash, maybe a bit of hypothermia, feeling grateful that all of my teeth are still in tact, sharing a bath tub of hot water with steph and a bathroom with Steph, Janson and myself, the afternoon, priceless!!!

What have I been up to?

The Rattlesnake

Braden cutting off the snake's head with his meshetti after he ran it over

The aftermath of the snake being run over, skinned, and gutted with the heart still beating

This snake would not die, it kept wriggling around

This is the head, detatched from the body
Sorry if you have a weak stomach:)

So last week was my last week off of the summer. SAD:( But I had an amazing week! So here is what I did. I went to Penticton, BC. I have never been that far west in BC, and I can say it might be one of my favorite places. I stayed with a friend of mine and his family, who live on top of a mountain, yes it is true, on top of a mountain. The view was amazing, there house overlooked Penticton, Skaha Lake as well as the Okanogan Lake. Alot of the week was spent at Okanogan Lake, playing on the beach, waterskiing, which i have not done for a while, but i still got it!! I tried wake skating as well, and actually was able to get up. We took the jet skii's out, we watched the Snowbirds shoe sitting in the boat in the middle of the lake, golfed a round at Skaha meadows at 6:40am! (it was beautiful, early but beautiful) Ate out at a few different restaurants, that were quite delicious, and played cards until i won my money back. I fell in love with the Baker family, they were so gracious and fun. To add to the excitment, we killed a rattlesnake, and i will post some pics because although it was disgusting, it was kinda cool. So that was my brief week in review!!

That is right, i am blogging! I figured it would be a great way to keep a sort of journal, because to be honest i am not so good at it. I got to thinking over the past week, with everything i was able to do and see that i really need to start writing things down, so that i can look back and remember valuable life lessons.
